From GEEC to SECA: A Story of Growth, Legacy, and Vision

What began as GEEC—the Global Engagement & Empowerment Center—was never just a name. It was a movement. A bold experiment in uniting communities through philanthropy, cultural belonging, data-informed strategy, and grassroots engagement. It was where:

  • Volunteers mobilized to serve.

  • Donors invested in transformation.

  • Equity took center stage.

  • Students and families found belonging.

  • Data turned into action.

  • Culture was celebrated, not sidelined.

As our vision evolved, so did our structure. The transition from GEEC to the Division of Strategic Empowerment & Community Advancement (SECA) reflects our expanded commitment to measurable impact, inclusive advancement, and global connectivity. This new identity brings clarity, cohesion, and capacity to a growing portfolio of people-centered work.

And yet—the soul of GEEC remains.

Today, SECA represents the next generation of our empowerment mission. We still honor our roots. We still lead with heart. But now, we do so with a broader reach and a bolder name.
